Overview

Responsible for screening employees, patients, visitors, caregivers, and vendors who enter the campus to ensure we are protecting our patients.  Entrance screeners must ask all screening questions and accurately obtain all temperatures to ensure those entering SIH facilities are not experiencing any symptoms of illness.  Screeners will provide appropriate PPE to patients, visitors, guest, and staff following SIH guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Safety
  • Manages processes effectively concerning employee/patient safety.
  • Sanitization of screening station as per the protocol and at least once per day
  • Sanitization of equipment/instruments used
  • Follow infection prevention policies for safety while on the job
  •  Record Keeping
    • Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents as required.
  • Process Improvement
    • Promotes a culture of process improvement by participating in system-based programs that supports the system’s process improvement goals.
    • Actively participates on system-wide or hospital-based teams.
  • Role Specific Responsibilities
    • Monitor for visible signs of symptoms and illness of all employees, patients, visitors, caregivers, and vendors who are requesting entrance to SIHS facilities by: Accurately checking temperatures with a thermometer (SIH to provide training as needed).   Asking all screening questions and documenting responses.  Redirecting individuals who may not meet criteria for entrance to appropriate resource centers or other personnel to address the issue.
    • Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in addressing varying situations that may require difficult conversations.
    • Provide excellent customer service to provide a first line image of SIHS that aligns with Commitment to Care.
    • Communicate effectively with a high degree of efficiency with various forms of technology including cell phones, tablets, texting, email, etc.
    • Properly maintain PPE and replenish supplies as needed.
    • Distribute according to SIHS guidelines appropriate PPE to patients, visitors, vendors and employees.
