Overview

Responsible for implementing, coordinating and monitoring system wide Injury Prevention and Safe Patient Handling Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Safety
    • Manages processes effectively in regard to employee/patient safety.
  • Record Keeping
    • Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents as required, including but not limited to payroll, schedules and status changes.
  • Process Improvement
    • Promotes a culture of process improvement by establishing unit/department based programs that supports the system’s process improvement goals
    • Actively participates on system-wide or hospital-based teams.
  • Role Specific Responsibilities
    • Designs, implements and evaluates Injury Prevention and Safe Patient Handling Programs
    • Plans, implements and evaluates Safe Patient Handling and Ergonomic orientation activities
    • Provides annual Safe Patient Handling and Ergonomic education & training
    • Assists in development of post offer physical function testing
    • Provides ergonomic assessments and appropriate recommendations.
    • Assists Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator with case management/navigation services to injured employees
    • Assists Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator investigate, monitor and analyze injuries and trends, as well as methods to promote and protect employee safety
    • Assists Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator maintaining records regarding all occupational injuries and exposures as required by federal and state regulations
    • Provides recommendations for loss prevention strategies and safety awareness programs
    • Provides information, education and support to management and Human Resources regarding employee safety issues effecting employee job performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • PTA/COTA/ATC/LPN Preferred
  • Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist
  • Safety & Training Experience: 3 years
