Responsible for exercising a specific patient population.
Role Specific Responsibilities
o Performs and implements specific levels of exercise based on protocols and guidelines for activity of patients.
o Provides supervision to assistants and students.
o Provides education and marketing support.
o Participates with the multidisciplinary teams.
o Conducts routine exercise tests and prepares exercise programs
o Trains and demonstrates proper exercise techniques and equipment use to patient population
o Documents patient progress.
o Level II: Trains with a certified Exercise Physiologist for 600 documented clinical hours within a one year period of time while learning to develop, implement, and coordinate exercise programs and administer medical tests under physician’s supervision.
o Level II: Required to pass American College of Sports Medicine (ASCM) Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) certification exam within one year of moving to Level II.
• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Exercise Science or relevant health related field.
Licenses and Certification
• Current BLS
Experience and Skills
• Technical Experience: 3 years
• Knowledge in exercise prescription in clinical populations, muscular anatomy, passive and active range of motion.
