Position Summary

Responsible for supporting, administering, maintaining and optimizing infrastructure hardware and software used within the SIH environment. This ITS engineer position is for an Epic Client Systems Adminsitrator.



Key responsibilities include Installation, configuration,  management, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting and optimization of Epic ECSA components:

  • EpicCareLink
  • EpicPrintService
  • Hyperspace Web
  • Interconnect
  • Kuiper
  • MyChart
  • SystemPulse

Candidate should have a strong background in Microsoft Windows server and core services such as printing, IIS, and file system management.


Role Specific Responsibilities
o Supports, administers, maintains and optimizes infrastructure hardware and software used within the SIH environment. This includes but is not limited to network, telecommunications, security, server, storage and datacenter components consisting of significant investment in the most advanced technical IT solutions used in healthcare.


o Architects and plans solution selection and deployment along with ongoing support and maintenance within the enterprise IT environment which consists of over 10,000 devices and 5,000 users.


o Assists with strategic plan development, budget preparation and implementation of core IT infrastructure components.


o Provides advanced level support to customers and coworkers for problems and issues reported through the IT Service Management system (ITSM).


o Liaise with customers, other IT staff and vendors for design, planning, implementation and problem resolution.


o Documents and maintains accurate records of work performed within the ITSM system.


o Responsible for performance monitoring and capacity planning on assigned solutions.


o Provides guidance and assistance with creation and maintenance of standards, policies and procedures within role specific responsibilities.


o Stay abreast of the latest developments in information technology, especially as pertains to healthcare.


o Maintains availability for "on-call" emergency solution support and other after-hours support duties as assigned by ITS Management.


o Sets and maintains goals, timelines and commitments.


o Responsible for major IT solutions, while seeking assistance for secondary support when appropriate.


o Engineer I: In addition to core responsibilities above (which apply to all Engineers) primary duties include entry level support, configuration and administration of SIH IT solutions.


o Engineer II: Assumes a primary support role on assigned solutions. Maintains and implements assigned solutions with minimal assistance and guidance.


o Engineer III: Manages projects and solutions with minimal guidance and mentors junior level staff development of these skills. Develops and executes work plans including status updates and reporting. Builds relationships as an ambassador for the IT department.


o Engineer IV: Manages complex, mission critical solutions, IT solutions and projects with minimal guidance, continually pursues opportunities to improve and mentors junior level staff in development of these skills. Demonstrates ability to lead and coordinate diverse teams both within and outside of ITS. Builds and maintains good relationships with all SIH management team members.


• Associates or other Technical Degree in Information Technology or Computer Systems or equivalent experience/expertise (Level I)
• Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience/expertise (Level II,III)
• Advanced IT System Certification or equivalent experience/expertise (Level IV)


Licenses and Certification
• Advanced IT System Certification, as appropriate/applicable


Experience and Skills
• Level I – 2 years relevant IT solutions experience/expertise
• Level II - 5 years relevant IT solutions experience/expertise
• Level III - 7 years relevant IT solutions experience/expertise
• Level IV - 10 years relevant IT solutions experience/expertise• In addition to these technical experience/expertise requirements, increasing levels of direct system support and administration, project management and recognized achievement are expected.


The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge and experience in Microsoft Windows servers and services with specific focus in IIS and printing. MCSA or similar certifications preferred.
