  • Overview

    The Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) is responsible for all aspects of providing excellent services for our patients and providers while placing high priority on excellent patient care. The NMT keeps accurate records as required for all aspects of the work done.


    Role Specific Responsibilities
    o Performs diagnostic nuclear medicine examinations.
    o Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals.
    o Maintains equipment.
    o Ensures radioactive material is properly received, stored, inventoried and disposal.
    o Verifies patient information.


    The Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) is responsible for performing diagnostic exams in all areas of Nuclear Medicine Services, which may include General Nuclear Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine Therapy, Oncology PET/CT, Cardiac PET/CT. The NMT is responsible for keeping accurate records and active credentials as necessary for compliance with all pertinent regulatory agencies and Southern Illinois Healthcare. The NMT is responsible for taking excellent care of patients. The NMT will cover Nuclear Medicine Operations at any Southern Illinois Healthcare Nuclear Medicine Department as needed, including normal business hours, weekends, holidays and on call coverage.


    Associate's degree in Nuclear Medicine required.

    Current Nuclear Medicine certification required.

    IEMA or eligible required.

    ARRT(N) or CNMT required.

    BLS required.

    One year of experience preferred.

    CT certification preferred.
