  • Overview

    Responsible for maintaining the Trauma Registry, meeting trauma center uniform reporting criteria requirements and provide administrative/clerical support as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    Role Specific Responsibilities
    o Identifies all reportable trauma patient records treated at MHC
    o Abstracts all requested information to the state registry according to guidelines
    o Notifies the Trauma Program Director of missing required data element documentation in a patient record by either pre-hospital or
    hospital personnel.
    o Coordinates with outside agencies to obtain required information to meet standards.
    o Prepares and transmit quarterly reports to the state registry by due dates
    o Backs up and archive data per policy
    o Aggregates and compile data into graphical display as requested
    o Completes state and national electronic submissions to include correcting edits
    o Acts as an expert resource in the abstracting and coding of trauma injuries
    o Researches and solves complex coding issues
    o Participates in site review by regulatory agencies
    o Assists with preparation and readiness for conferences, committees, appointments and travel arrangements
    o Establishes and maintains filing system for trauma patient records and daily office operations.
    o Greets visitors, answers telephones and relays messages to appropriate staff members
    o Maintains department equipment and supplies. Order supplies/material as needed within allotted budget.
    o Prepares correspondence, memos, reports, minutes, agendas, etc. Fax, photocopy and distribute material as directed.
    o Provides administrative and clerical support essential to efficient organization of assigned department.

    Qualifications

    • IL LPN license or Associate’s degree in health related field or graduate of accredited record technician program with two years of  coding and/or abstracting experience required.
