  • Overview

    Responsible for interviewing incoming patients, pre-registration, registration, and insurance verification to facilitate the registration process

    Responsibilities

    • Safety
      • Manages processes effectively in regard to employee/patient safety.
    • Record Keeping
      • Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents as required.
    • Process Improvement
      • Promotes a culture of process improvement by participating in unit/department based programs that supports the system’s process improvement goals.
      • Actively participates on system-wide or hospital-based teams as needed.
    • Role Specific Responsibilities
      • Follows registration policy and procedures to accurately identify patient, insurances, obtain required signatures where applicable.
      • Reviews physician order for necessary components. Contacts physician office for new order if incomplete.
      • Contacts, or refers to the appropriate individual/department to provide necessary data to financially secure account.
      • Identifies self-pay HAP, offers brochure and obtains required signatures
      • Accurately screens ABNs to determine medical necessity, explains ABN to patient, obtains signatures and reviews document for completeness.
      • Performs QA of daily registrations
      • Collects ED copays. Balances cash and credit card payments and completes shift summary form daily.

    Qualifications

    • High School diploma or equivalent required
    • Medical Terminology required
    • One year of experience required
    • Typing minimum 40 wpm required
