$/hr minimum - $/hr maximum (range increases based on education, experience and certifications)

Responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting staffing and coding issues.

• Manages processes effectively in regard to patient and employee safety.
• Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents as required.
• Promotes a culture of process improvement by participating in unit/department based programs that supports the system’s process improvement goals.
• Actively participates on system-wide or hospital-based teams as needed.
• Monitors timely filing deadline and assists management with determining priority work queues.
• Provides support to coding work queues as needed.
• Identifies and communicates to Health Information Coding Educator Coordinator any provider documentation trends/opportunities for improvement
• Works with coding staff to reduce the volume of accounts with coding edits providing education as necessary.
• Trains PB Coding staff on their assigned work queues.
• Serves as a liaison between PB Professional Practice Coding Manager and coding staff.
• Work with HI Professional Practice Denials Specialist to improve coding quality and reduce denial occurrences.

Education

• Associate degree in Health Information Technology or related field preferred.

 Licenses and Certification

• Candidates required to have one of the following certification requirements listed:
  • CPC, CCS, CCS-P, or CCA credentials with previous Coding Lead experience in a group practice setting, or
  • RHIT

 Experience and Skills

• Technical Experience: Minimum 3 years professional practice coding experience required.
• Extensive knowledge and application of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes and modifiers required.
• Knowledge of health information management practices and federal and state healthcare regulations required.
