$31.55/hr minimum - $47.33/hr maximum (range increases based on education, experience and certifications)

Responsibilities

Position Summary

  • Responsible for developing a plan of care to meet the patient’s nutritional needs. 

Job Roles

  • Safety
    • Manages processes effectively in regard to employee/patient safety.
  • Record Keeping
    • Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents as required.
  • Process Improvement
    • Promotes a culture of process improvement by participating in unit/department based programs that supports the system’s process improvement goals.
    • Actively participates on system-wide or hospital-based teams as needed.
  • Role Specific Responsibilities
    • Screens patients for determination of nutritional status.
    • Recommends supplements, advances diets and provides nutritional support to physicians/staff.
    • Consults with inpatients, family, physicians, nurses and staff, as appropriate, to provide nutrition education. 
    • Assesses and reassesses patients at nutritional risk and makes recommendations for nutrition therapy.
    • Develops or orders nutrition education materials for patients, employees and the community.
    • Reviews and revises modified diet information provided by Food & Nutrition Services.
    • Provides nutritional education to employees, outpatients and community members as needed.
    • Serves as a liaison to boards or groups driving patient care.
    • Provides in-services to staff and community.
    • Participates in system-wide and community based teams focusing on care improvement for the population.
    • Provides additional services in correlation within boundaries of certification.
    • Responsible for compliance with accreditation standards and quality improvement data gathering, monitoring, improvement initiatives and presentation.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics.

 Licenses and Certification

  • Registered Dietitian required.
  • A position relevant specialty certification from list below required:
    • Certified Diabetes Educator
    • Certified Nutrition Support Clinician
    • Board Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition
    • Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition
    • Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition
    • Board Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management

 Experience and Skills

  • One year of experience as a registered dietitian required.
