$/hr minimum - $/hr maximum (range increases based on education, experience and certifications)

Responsible for receiving and processing, and performing limited testing of patient specimens for diagnostic testing.

Responsibilities

Role Specific Responsibilities


o Identifies and labels all specimens according to hospital and laboratory policy
o Prepares samples for testing in laboratory departments.
o Maintains equipment and stocking of supplies in central receiving/processing area.
o Prepares specimens for send out to reference laboratories.
o Assists with setups, Gram stains and rapid testing in Microbiology.
o Maintains equipment and stocking of supplies
o Collects and processes specimens
o Registers outpatients and/or specimens received from outside customers, as necessary.
o Assists with reception and front office duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Education
• Associates or Bachelors degree in Biological Science required

Experience and Skills
• Phlebotomy experience preferred
• 5 years of Technical Assistant experience (or equivalent) in the absence of a degree.
• Phlebotomy training and skills required upon hire
