$70,283/yr minimum - $105,435/yr maximum (range increases based on education, experience and certifications)

Responsible for facilitating the professional growth and development of diverse learners in a variety of practice/learning environments to enhance the learners’ professional competence and role performance. Leads efforts to implement evidence-based practice standards that advance nursing practice and improve patient outcomes.  Functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, partner for practice transitions, and advocate for the specialty. 

Responsibilities

Role Specific Responsibilities (Level I and Level II)

  • Collaborates with members of the NPD team, nursing leaders, nursing staff, and other hospital departments to develop, coordinate, manage, facilitate, conduct, and evaluate on-boarding and orientation programs for nursing personnel.
  • Collaborates with members of the NPD team, nursing leaders, staff, and other hospital departments to develop, coordinate, manage, facilitate, conduct, and evaluate competency programs as appropriate to area of responsibility.
  • Designs education programs and learning activities to address learning needs and practice gaps at the individual and unit/facility level. Activities are developed to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill, or practice.
  • Coordinates, facilitates, conducts and evaluates activities that promote professional role development and role transition (e.g Residency).
  • Collaborates with partners to share expertise in planning and decision making to achieve the desired results. Interprofessional collaboration involves multiple healthcare personnel from different professional backgrounds working together to deliver the highest quality of care.
  • Utilizes evidence-based sources, scope and standards of professional practice, regulatory agency standards, organizational/departmental policies and procedures, principles of adult learning to develop programs and instructional materials.
  • Observes current nursing practice and uses current, evidence-based sources, recognized professional standards, organizational policies and procedures, and quality improvement processes to identify opportunities to improve the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice resulting in improved patient outcomes.
  • Instructs a variety of learners in the mandatory American Heart Association (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, PEARS) and Fetal Monitoring Courses as appropriate to area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Education

  • NPDOL, I - BSN required

 

Licenses and Certification

  • Current Illinois RN license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Instructor for BLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, PEARS, and/or NRP preferred.  Must obtain within one year of hire as related to populations served.                                             

Experience and Skills

  • Level I - Three (3) years professional RN experience required
