$/hr minimum - $/hr maximum (range increases based on education, experience and certifications)

Responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems for the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient.

Responsibilities

  • Safety
    • Manages processes effectively in regard to employee/patient safety.
    • Participates in the hyperbaric safety program.
  • Record Keeping
    • Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents as required.
  • Process Improvement
    • Promotes a culture of process improvement by participating in unit/department based programs that supports the system’s process improvement goals.
    • Actively participates on system-wide or hospital-based teams as needed.
  • Role Specific Responsibilities
    • Assists in patient preparation for treatment, including lifting or transferring of patient per SOP.
    • Reinforces education as it relates to hyperbaric therapy.
    • Keeps complete and accurate patient records as they pertain to treatment documentation.
    • Performs duties and procedures as directed by Program Director, Clinical Nurse Manager, Medical Director, and in some cases the Hyperbaric Safety Director.
    • Performs hyperbaric chamber operations and system maintenance as required.
    • Maintains competencies, continuing education and certifications as appropriate.
    • Utilizes data software for wound management.
    • Makes appropriate entries for daily hyperbaric treatments and wound care clinic visits including photo uploading.
    • Tolerates pressurization and depressurization in a hyperbaric chamber.
    • Must be able to hear and see patients and staff and listen for equipment malfunctions.
    • May perform LPN or RN duties on other floors when patient / chamber is not scheduled.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associates in healthcare related field preferred; or
  • U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) hyperbaric trained as:
    • U.S. Navy, Army, or Coast Guard Diver (1st Class, 2nd Class or Master Diver designation) – Does not include Scuba (only) Diver.
    • U.S. Air Force Aerospace Physiology Specialist
  • Must have one of the following required Illinois License:
  • Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) completed pre-hire or within 1 year post hire.
  • Introductory Hyperbaric Training Course as approved by National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) completed pre-hire or within 1 year post hire.
